Board Nomination Procedures:
The chair has appointed a nominating committee of three or more board members. The nominating committee will nominate at least one member for each vacancy, including any unexpired term vacancy, for which elections are being held, and determine that the members nominated are agreeable to placing their names in nomination and will accept office if elected. The nominating committee will publicize the call for nominations to all members by email, post in the credit union branch and on the website and may interview each member that meets any qualifications established by the nominating committee.
If you are interested in a board seat, please email this completed form(click to download) to nomcom@richheritage.org or deliver it in a sealed envelope to the branch address care of “The Nominating Committee” by December 4th.
Election Procedures:
In order to vote, the staff will need to validate you are a member in our database before the meeting begins. Please plan to arrive 15 – 20 minutes before the start time. After placing the nominations of the nominating committee before the members, the chair calls for nominations from the floor. When nominations are closed, the chair appoints election tellers. The election tellers distribute the ballots, collect the ballots and tally the votes, and the chair announces the results. Except when there is only one nominee for each open office, all elections are by ballot and determined by the plurality of votes. If there is only one nominee for each open office, the chair may take a voice vote or declare the election of each nominee by general consent or acclamation.
Please share this message with any Heritage Members interested in attending the annual meeting or serving on the board.
History and Heritage of the Credit Union
Richmond Heritage Federal Credit Union was founded as a not-for-profit organization in 1936 by ten educators during the Great Depression. They recognized the need for access to economic resources not offered to African Americans by traditional financial institutions at that time. Richmond Heritage has grown into a multi-million dollar credit union, owned and operated by its members who proudly continue the founders’ pay-it-forward values—the opportunity to achieve basic foundations of financial security by offering affordable financial services. We are committed to helping families and individuals reach their financial goals.
With respect and admiration,
Your Richmond Heritage Federal Credit Union Staff
